NEW U.K. IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR GENERAL AVIATION

Revised regulations for crew and passengers on all general aviation flights entering or leaving UK, were introduced on 6 April 2024.

This requires lists of all persons on board such flights to be notified in advance using the UK government internet website or approved alternative software. Other previous ways of notification are to cease. See

NEW IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR VISITS TO THE EU FOR UK PASSPORT HOLDERS

From 10 November 2024 all holders of passports from non Schengen countries (including UK) will be required to be photographed and fingerprints scanned on arrival in an EU Schengen country.

From mid 2025 the European Travel and Authorisation Scheme (ETIAS) will be introduced, requiring eah individual traveller, not requiring a visa, to apply for an ETIAS permit to enter an EU Schengen country. An ETIAS permit will cost 7 Euros and be valid for three years.

If planning an overseas visit, check national travel restrictions, including those due to Brexit and Covid, en route, on arrival and on returning to UK.

Following Brexit, if planning to fly abroad from the UK in a light aircraft check revised pilot licencing and aircraft certification requirements. Also changes to Customs & Immigration clearance procedures and availability.

If planning to drive abroad, check motoring organization websites for regulations. France now has a 70kph (40mph) blanket limit on single-carriageway roads. Check for vehicle emission control zones around major cities. These now exist in most European countries and the number of them is increasing each year. France requires purchase of an emission status sticker, for all vehicles including electrics, covering all of their zones.
